What is Fresh Read

The Bible has been a powerful force in history. Much for good, sometimes for harm. It has inspired poetry and art, compassion and vision. It has given comfort and courage.
Our concept is simple.

• We want to experience the Biblical Text

• We do not want to be hindered by the opinions of previous readers

• We want to respond to what we read and experience.

• We want to do this in a community of fellow readers.

Some Ground Rules

• Each text will have a leader who sets the table

• Each text will allow us to discuss - without attack or defensiveness.

• We will use a literary translation such as the New Revised Standard Version

• We will first read and listen, and only afterward, see what others have said.

• We value curiosity, civility, and respect.

• We do not ask that you believe anything but that it is worth the effort to give the Bible a Fresh Read
